https://robertmunsch.com/book/smelly-socks

Be sure to read on the website about Mr. Munsch’s inspiration for the story!

2. Design your own smelly socks here. Share your creation with me on Seesaw.

Extra Science Tie-In: Smell Investigation

You’ll need a blindfold and 5 different scents.  You’ll record your prediction (guess) as well as what the actual scent is.  You can choose to do this the regular way or the EXTRA challenging way.  The regular way will have you see what all of the scent possibilities are before you start.  So, you’ll know what you’re guessing from.  The EXTRA challenging way will keep those scents a secret so you won't know what you're guessing from.  So, helpers, keep these next ingredients a secret if you’re trying the challenging way: cinnamon, mint (toothpaste, gum, mouthwash, etc.), pickle juice, coffee and dirt.  Feel free to add others if you want!  Share your results with me on Seesaw.  Or, even better, show me a video of one of your reactions!

Learning Focus: Measurement

1. In keeping with our sock theme, go on a sock hunt and find 10 different socks (try for different people in your house so that you can get a wide variety of sizes).  Line these socks up shortest to tallest.

2. Take a picture and share with me on Seesaw.

3. Now look at your shortest sock.  Can you find an object that is the same height?  Take a picture if you do and share it with me.

4. Now look at your tallest sock.  Can you find an object that is the same height?  Take a picture if you do and share it with me.
